Moms Bullying Other Moms For Meal Prepping
Elise, a mother of three, got herself in the middle of a social media bullying stint after she tried to give out a tip she likes to use in her home for lunches. She meal-prepped her child’s school lunches five weeks in advance and moms bullied her. Her technique involves freezing 27 sandwiches at a time and defrosting them each night before school. Fresh toppings like lettuce are then added in the morning so it doesn’t get soggy. According to Elise, this method gives her more time to spend with her child. I’m a meal prepper so I totally agree with Elise. But it also raised questions and judgment from fellow parents on social media. Is it safe to freeze sandwiches? Do the sandwiches taste the same when defrosted?
Preparing school lunches five weeks in advance may seem like too much but it works for her.
Many parents have been doing this for years with no issues. The trick is to make sure the food is properly stored and prepared. Sandwiches should be tightly sealed in freezer bags or plastic wrap, and all ingredients should be fresh before freezing. Adding fresh vegetables and condiments in the morning will help them not get soggy.
She has been doing it for some time and shared what works for her with other moms and they attacked her. I get so frustrated with those mom Facebook groups because it seems to me to be nothing but judging and bullying. People questioned if she was giving her kids rotten food or soggy sandwiches. Relax folks.
It’s important to note that freezing sandwiches for five weeks in advance may not work for everyone. Each family has their unique routine and demands. Parents who prefer to prepare fresh school lunches every day should continue doing so. But, for busy parents or those who want to ensure their children receive healthy and nutritious meals at school, freezing sandwiches and defrosting them as needed may be an excellent option. So yall can just mind your own and maybe the world can be a nicer place. You keep doing you, Elise! 🙂
