Here’s How Dominant The UNLV Lady Rebels Have Been This Season
Back in “the day,” Las Vegas was run by the mob. Then the suits came in and took control. Now? Women’s basketball owns the city. The obvious success of the back-to-back WNBA Champion Las Vegas Aces goes without saying. They were the first professional team to bring a championship to the valley. Now the UNLV Lady Rebels basketball program are making a solid and dominant case for their seat at the table.
The UNLV Lady Rebels Are An NCAA Cheat Code
Sure, the UNLV Lady Rebels basketball program is on fire. They are currently on a 13 game winning streak and have an overall record of 28-2 this season. But it’s not just the wins but the margin of those wins that has been turning heads throughout the college basketball world.
On Monday, the Lady Rebels absolutely decimated their 9 seed opponent – the Fresno State Bulldogs – 83-35. The ladies held the Bulldogs to single digit scoring in the second, third and fourth quarters.
What is worse? That is not even their largest margin of victory this season.
On March 2nd, the Lady Rebels steamrolled San Diego State, 100-41. Then in their next game on March 5th, they defeated Utah State by an astounding 104-44. A full 60 point victory.
The team’s only two losses this season has been a narrow loss to New Mexico (by 3), and a healthy trouncing by Seton Hall 84-54. Pretty amazing.
Don’t Talk Like They Haven’t Been Here For Years
This year’s UNLV Lady Rebels basketball season has been extraordinary, but not unheard of. Las Vegas born head coach Lindy La Rocque has been lights out as the Lady Rebels coach since taking over the role the same week COVID went down in 2020.
It might have been easy to lose that story in the news cycle considering the timing, but she has proven to be an incredible leader. She is 72-19 since taking the helm and has been improving the results year after year. The 2023-24 season is proving to be its most dominant yet.
The Aces made the table… now the UNLV Lady Rebels are pulling up a chair. The women own Las Vegas now, and we are here for it.
