Another Interstate 15 Closure This Weekend In Las Vegas
It’s a closure so nice, they are doing it twice (this time). After Interstate 15 northbound was closed for two and a half days last weekend, you can add Interstate 15 southbound closure this weekend to your dance card.
Southbound Interstate 15 Closure To Affect Drivers For Days
Gear up because this one is going to be a doozy.
Beginning Friday, August 2nd at 9pm, there will be a southbound Interstate 15 closure between Flamingo Road and Warm Springs Road. That very important stretch of road, connecting locals and tourists alike to a major stretch of the Las Vegas Strip corridor and major shopping destinations like Town Square, will have all lanes closed.
That means scattering through surface streets to find your destination. Plus the southbound Interstate 15 closure will also mess with a major trucking route that has shipments going back to ports in Southern California. Yes, this is a massive pain.
It’s all part of what the Nevada Department of Transportation is calling a “pave-a-thon”. Afterwards, the road will be smooth sailing (except of course for all of the jersey barriers in the way for the on-going Tropicana bridge replacement).
\We suggest not going near the southbound Interstate 15 closure this weekend, but if you do definitely use the Waze app.
This Isn’t The First Interstate 15 Closure In Recent Memory
It seems like the Nevada Department Of Transportation really loves shutting the I-15 down. You may remember not one but two complete Interstate 15 closure events as part of the “Dropicana” project, the most recent of which took place earlier this year.
While it feels like the work on Interstate 15 won’t be completed until after flying cars are here and readily available, we are impatiently waiting for the final product. All the lanes open, no shifting, road Valhalla. We can hope, right?
