One Summerlin Intersection About To Improve For Everyone

When you think of traffic in Summerlin, it’s tough to not think of the intersections at 215/Charleston. Major casino and shopping traffic, a bike and pedestrian path having to cross the roadway, it’s madness. Well Clark County is hoping to fix that.

The County unveiled new renderings on Tuesday that will help separate pedestrian and bike traffic from the busy road. The plan is to take the existing path and create an underpass that would veer off and travel underneath the Charleston Boulevard bridge, alongside the 215, and rejoin on the other side. The county will have to dig a tunnel under the off and on ramps, but don’t worry about a creepy dark tunnel. They intend for the entirety to be lit.

Bicycling has been increasing in popularity over the years. Charleston Boulevard with it’s connection to Red Rock Canyon is particularly popular with bikers. The 215 Beltway trail is also among the valley’s most popular.

The need is great for all involved, resulting in less pedestrian/bicycle and car interaction on the road. That means a safer and faster commute for everyone. This year has been a fairly deadly one for cyclists, with nine being recorded through last month. Last year through the first 8 months there were only 4. With more people driving post-pandemic, and an ever increasing bicycling population, the numbers are sure to grow from here if appropriate action doesn’t take place.

Clark County expects the project design to be finalized by the end of the year and for construction to get underway next year.

Ranked: Nevada Among Top 10 States With Worst Road Rage

We all have our road rage tendencies. Some of us are milder than others, but we all get aggravated when we get cut off by another car. It’s human nature. However, some of us respond in more confrontational ways than others. I usually keep it together pretty well and try to be understanding. We all make mistakes. But when a fellow driver sharing the road does something absolutely idiotic, I am not afraid to lay on the horn. It’s there for a reason, right?

According to a new survey from Forbes Advisor, some states are home to more aggressive drivers who struggle to maintain their composure behind the wheel than others. This survey counted actions such as horn honking, rude gestures, and aggressive behaviors due to road rage. And, of course, after analyzing 10 key metrics from a survey of 5,000 drivers across the nation, Nevada‘s community of licensed drivers earned our state a spot on yet another top 10 list.

Driving in Las Vegas is literally one of the scariest everyday tasks I complete. I always wonder before a drive if I’m going to make it safely to my location. That thought runs through my mind. Everyday. There’s no way to know for certain, no matter what state you’re in or where you’re going. But the ridiculousness on our roads and the road rage that results can be pretty terrifying and puts so many in danger.

That said, Nevada is actually not the #1 state with the most confrontational drivers, according to this survey. Some of the top 10 genuinely surprised me… I wasn’t expecting to see Oklahoma pop up on the list. And I CERTAINLY wasn’t expecting the #1 state to be what it is. However, I would’ve bet my next paycheck that New York had earned a top rank. Surprisingly, they aren’t on the list.

    We call them “man’s best friend” for a reason. They truly are! I’d be lost without my pup, and so would the millions of additional dog owners out there. They’re part of the family, and they never fail to make us smile when we need it most.

I’m just as shocked that a couple others ‘marked their territory’ at the top of the list. (Get it?)

      Las Vegas is full of expensive break-the-bank restaurants, mom and pop shops and small local eateries. Being a pet owner, the question that always comes up is, “Can I bring my dog?” Finding a restaurant that not only seats people but our furry companions can be troublesome.
