Las Vegas Is Drooling Over New MSG Sphere Preview
Slowly but surely it has risen from the dirt behind The Venetian at Sands and Koval… but what exactly is MSG Sphere? We’ve heard a lot of rumblings of an entertainment venue, screens and more, and some “this looks fake” renderings. Well, they just dropped a new hype video on us and we have to say we are beyond excited.

Unveil #msgsphere, an entirely new medium that will allow audiences to see and feel entertainment like never before.

The venue, which can hold 20,000 guests, is on track to be the most expensive venue ever built in Las Vegas. Yes, even more expensive than Allegiant Stadium! It has already changed the skyline of the city, with the largest spherical structure on the planet looking more like a Magic 8 Ball than a high-tech entertainment mecca, but once the screens come on the exoskeleton of the MSG Sphere, it’s going to be out of this world.
What will the MSG Sphere bring?
Wow, does this video put it all into perspective. While the screen outside is stunning, the screen inside is all encompassing, dwarfing even the largest IMAX screen you’ve seen… by a wide margin. The screen is 160,000 square feet. That’s over 9 sheets of NHL ice… all screen.
Here's a look at the MSG Sphere Project from the @FOX5Vegas drone. Completion is set for 2023 for this 17,500-seat entertainment venue. Cloudy & breezy today, but it's a small price to pay for the great fall weather that continues. I'll have details tonight at 10 & 11. pic.twitter.com/HIwWRoXzKn

The video also brags about “groundbreaking spatialized audio”. What it promises is perfect, immersive audio for every seat in the house. No crazy echoes like you hear in other cavernous venues in town. Audio was front and center in planning. They also promise “full 4D effects” while showing video of ocean waves. So… get ready for misters and scent machines a la FlyOver Las Vegas? We think?
From concerts to boxing events and beyond, the MSG Sphere will be home to many different kinds of entertainment, with U2 being the first with a planned multi-show residency. Pretty much the perfect band to stretch the bounds of what an audience can expect. We are counting down the days!
