F1 Paving To Cause Headaches For Las Vegas Drivers This Week
In November, cars will be screaming down Sands Avenue, Las Vegas Boulevard and all around the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix track. But before that happens, there must be pain. Let the paving commence!
The paving project continues, adding several layers of new asphalt including “racing surface” which is much denser than the typical roadway. One of the biggest turns of the race, leading to the straight away on the Las Vegas Strip, comes at the intersection of Sands Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard. That’s where the headaches begin this week.
How will F1 Las Vegas paving ruin my commute this week?
We hope you don’t have any intentions of crossing the Strip at Sands Avenue or Spring Mountain Road, because if you do, you’ll be annoyed.
Beginning Wednesday, July 12th at 9pm through Friday, July 14th at 9am:
- Spring Mountain Road EASTBOUND at Las Vegas Boulevard
Traffic will not be able to cross from Spring Mountain to Sands Avenue, and will be forced to turn Northbound or Southbound at Las Vegas Boulevard. - Sands Avenue WESTBOUND at Las Vegas Boulevard
Traffic will not be able to cross from Sands Avenue to Spring Mountain or turn onto Las Vegas Boulevard Southbound, and will be forced to turn Northbound at Las Vegas Boulevard. - Palazzo Garage access
Limited access via Las Vegas Boulevard and Sands Avenue Westbound - Wynn South Gate Drive access

There is another moment of disaster planned for the intersection later this month as well.
This will all be worth it… they say…
It is a massive pain for anyone driving around the resort corridor right now. But officials say it is all for a good cause: money. A lot of it. Projections have Formula 1 bringing $1.2 billion in economic impact every year. We will get to drive on a new road when all is said and done. Not too shabby. We’ll see in November if their projections are living anywhere near reality.
These Las Vegas Resort Pools Are Open To Locals
Mandalay Bay
Mandalay Bay Beach, has a lazy river and wave pool on site. It offers weekend access to locals depending on weather and availability.

Locals can book daybed reservations at discounted rates at both resort pools Mondays through Thursdays. Daybeds range from about $100 to $175, depending on availability. Locals can also go swimming in the resort’s Boulevard Pool during the Dive In Movies series, a weekly event on Monday evenings where movies are played on the pool deck. Local admission is $10.

Red Rock
Sandbar Pool at Red Rock offers day passes that start at $35 per adult and $20 per child. Prices increase on weekends and holidays.

The Aliante Casino admits non-hotel guests into the pool with day passes beginning at $25 per adult, and $12 per child. Prices do increase on weekends.
