F1 Las Vegas Lane Closures This Week – We’re Not Joking
Wow. The F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix is officially behind us, and everything is back to normal. Roads are open, the Bellagio has its trees back, life is great, right? Not really. Turns out there are is more to be done in the aftermath of the race.
What will be affected in the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix road work?
It’s a tale as old as time… and considering the race happened nearly two months ago it’s more like The NeverEnding Story. There is still more utility work and infrastructure still to move.
- Harmon Avenue from Las Vegas Boulevard to Koval
From Sunday, January 14 to Thursday, January 18 from 9pm-6am, expect single lane closures as they continue utility work. They expect the closures to be intermittent. - Las Vegas Boulevard and Harmon Avenue Intersection
From Sunday, January 14 to Thursday, January 18 from Midnight to 9am, expect single lane closures (also intermittent) to work on utilities some more. - Koval Lane from Harmon Avenue to Rochelle Avenue
On Tuesday, January 16th from 6am-5pm, only one northbound land will be open while they relocate some infrastructure.
There it is. Two months is what it took to get all of their toys cleaned up after the big race.
But wait, what about the “temporary bridge” on Flamingo?
Ah, yes, that thing. The bridge is still there two months later, much to the chagrin of businesses in the area who have lost revenue to the tune of at least $23 million. So, what’s the deal?
According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, the bridge will be going away but not until after the Super Bowl. They told Fox 5 that the bridge is staying up for a traffic study to determine if the bridge should be permanent or not. That, and they don’t want to affect traffic during the Super Bowl.
We’ve said we were excited for F1 before… but it might be more trouble than it is worth.
