Dogs Of Downtown Summerlin Calendar Needs Cute Pooches

Walking around Downtown Summerlin, shopping bags in hand, you notice something. There are a lot of dogs! Owners bring their pets to Lazy Dog for a bite, or down Festival Plaza Drive for a stroll. If you and your dog love hunting for bargains together, there’s a good chance they should feature them in the 2024 Dogs Of Downtown Summerlin calendar!

Downtown Summerlin has put out the casting call for four legged Fidos who know how to strike a pose. The Calendar has been going for a bit now, and the competition is fierce. There are a lot of cute pups in Southern Nevada! Everything from Chihuahuas to Labradoodles will have their chance for fame and fortune! Each month of the year gets its very own dog! Plus the illustrious cover shot pup! Who will it be?!

How do I enter my dog to get into the Dogs Of Downtown Summerlin Calendar?

Do you think your dog has what it takes? Now through Sunday, August 13th you’ll be able to snap a pic of your pup to your Instagram using the hashtag #DogsOfDTS24. The head honchos at Downtown Summerlin and Howard Hughes Corporation will keep an eye out for that hashtag. Winners will be chosen by Friday, August 18th and then it’s time for your close up! Book an appointment at the groomer! Get those nails on point.

While the property hasn’t put the full details of this year’s competition online, last year’s has some helpful tips.

  • No humans! This is a dog calendar. No posing with a two legged friend. Dogs only.
  • It’d probably be a good idea to follow @summerlin and @downtownsummerlin on Instagram.
  • Photos of your dog should probably be taken at Downtown Summerlin.

Starting in October calendars will sell for $10, with proceeds benefiting the LVMPD foundation. Best of luck to all the dogs and congratulations in advance to the lucky 13 who will be gracing our cubicles soon enough.

Flags, Floats And Fun At The Summerlin Patriotic Parade

Who doesn’t love a parade! The Summerlin Patriotic Parade took place on the morning of July 4th, as is tradition! The event was filled with incredible floats, community spirit, and even a couple Stanley Cup Champion Vegas Golden Knights!

Tens of thousands gathered up and down the parade route near Village Center Circle in Summerlin. The Summerlin Council let paradegoers get a head start on claiming their “perfect spot” this year. Tents, blankets and chairs were set up early Monday morning and it was competitive!

How did the Summerlin Patriotic Parade get started?

It all got started humbly in 1995. Summerlin was just in its infancy as a community and the parade was born. Nearly 30 years later, and massive balloons soar through the sky up and down the route. An American eagle larger than life flies low to avoid street poles and traffic lights. Floats range from the modest to the incredible, with dancers, singers, storybook characters and even Jedi masters showing off their skills.

Perhaps one of the most impressive floats this year was the Indiana Jones float. While the reboot of the movie is falling short of expectations, this float certainly did not. The theming was excellent and the ominous boulder rolling behind Indy. This float blew our socks off!

Of course there are old favorites as well. Danza Del Carrizo de Ciudad Juarez was in the parade once again this year with an incredible endurance. We saw them at the end of the route and we do not know how they do it in this weather! Our favorite member? The youngest one who took to the parade route until the very end.

If you have never been to the parade, maybe make it a point to go next year! Many people like to say “Las Vegas is missing community”… but you will find it here!
