F1-mageddon! Street Closures For Las Vegas Grand Prix Released
To say that the paving project for the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix has been fun is… a lie. Street closures, cones everywhere… heck even the Vegas Golden Knights had to deal with the detours for the Stanley Cup championship parade! Well the paving project is nearly done. If you thought driving around the Strip was fun before, wait until the race!
While millionaires will be whizzing around the track, you will be crawling in comparison. The closures begin on Thursday, November 16th for practice runs. They will continue through Saturday, November 18th for the final race.
Roads will begin closing around 5pm with the entire route being closed off to us normies by 7pm. They will reopen at 2am the following morning. At least we don’t lose the ability to drive around the resort corridor for an entire weekend.
Which roads will be shut down during the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix?
Buckle up, because the road closures extend past the route itself. Prepare for a solid block (or more) buffer between the course and detour signs.
- While the race zooms down Las Vegas Boulevard from Spring Mountain/Sands to Harmon, the closures will begin a block further at either direction. From Genting Boulevard (at Resorts World) to Aria Place (at Aria).
- Sands Avenue will be closed from Las Vegas Boulevard and Howard Hughes Parkway. Again a block buffer. On the other side, Spring Mountain Road will be closed from Las Vegas Boulevard to Mel Torme Way.
- Flamingo Road will be majorly affected in the F1 insanity. Expect closures between Via Del Nord (the Bellagio pick-up/drop-off on the north side of the property) across to Linq Lane.
- Harmon Avenue will be closed just west of Las Vegas Boulevard at the Cosmopolitan garage and valet entrance/exit to Lamar Circle, one block east of the Formula 1 paddock site.
- Koval Lane will be inaccessible from Tompkins Avenue (behind the MGM Grand convention center) to Sands. Although, if you’ve driven on Koval lately, it might as well be considered inaccessible today.
