Las Vegas Mayors Goodman Honored With Statue, Street Name
There has not been a Las Vegas Mayor without the last name Goodman since 1999. That’s when well known mob defense attorney Oscar Goodman took over the reigns of the city and became a veritable cheerleader for Las Vegas. After serving the maximum of 12 years, his wife Carolyn won election and continued the legacy. Now the Las Vegas Mayors Goodman will be forever immortalized in a city they’ve given so much to.
At a surprise event in front of Las Vegas City Hall on Tuesday morning, the Las Vegas Mayors Goodman got a beautiful statue in their likeness (and way better than Cristiano Ronaldo’s statue).
The statue features Oscar and Carolyn standing side by side flashing their million dollar smiles. It was a very beautiful ceremony filled with confetti, showgirls and more!
That Wasn’t All For The Las Vegas Mayors Goodman
Behind every “good man” is a “good woman,” and Mayor Carolyn Goodman was honored with the name of the new plaza set to open and link the Las Vegas government campus. The name of the plaza, originally to be named “Civic Plaza,” will officially be named Carolyn G. Goodman Plaza. Carolyn was overcome with emotion by the honor.
“I look at you all. I look at our own beautiful family. I don’t think Oscar and I have ever been so moved and so blessed,” Carolyn said. “We love our beautiful family that has given us a life of meaning and purpose.” As she said that a plane flew overhead. “I am firing Nellis Air Force,” she exclaimed with her trademark wit.
They were also honored with a street in their honor. Goodman Way will become the new name of the stretch of Clark Avenue that goes along the Carolyn G. Goodman Plaza.
Definitely a well deserved honor for the Las Vegas Mayors Goodman who served the city for a quarter century, and beyond.
