Over 180 Attempted To Vote Twice In Nevada Election
Years of election marketing make it clear: it is “Rock The Vote” not “Rock The Votes”. It is “Your Vote. Your Choice.” not “Your Votes. Your Choice.” and so on. Needless to say, some people did not get the memo as dozens upon dozens of people attempted to vote twice in Nevada.
On Friday, the Nevada Secretary Of State’s office released their report on the 2024 election. In the report, it found that 182 people attempted to vote twice in Nevada, although they found no violation in two of those cases. The other 180 people are still under investigation.
Nearly a dozen people are being considered for actual prosecution in cases of illegal election behavior, according to the Reno Gazette Journal.
Why Did People Try To Vote Twice In Nevada?
There are false positives, genuine misunderstandings and slimy losers involved here. The slimy losers are the ones that know they voted once (say, via mail-in ballot) and attempt to vote a second time in person. They are obviously low lives and are up for some serious felony charges, although the numbers are thankfully infinitesimal compared to the total number of votes.
But there are genuine misunderstandings, in particular with older folks that may have forgotten they voted via the mail-in ballot already. Or in the case of same-names, like a father and son with the same name and address, attempting to vote and causing an issue there.
In total there were 762 “election integrity violation reports” submitted this election season, with over 500 of them closed with no fault.
Voting Twice Is A Serious Crime
Trying to sneak a second vote through the system is a major no-no. Attempting to vote twice in Nevada is labeled as a Category D felony under NRS 293.780, which could “sentence a convicted person to imprisonment in the state prison for a minimum term of not less than 1 year and a maximum term of not more than 4 years”.
