Lee Canyon Spending Millions On Improvements For Next Season
There is nothing quite like heading up to Mount Charleston and taking in all the fun at Lee Canyon. Ski season went extra long this year and many times the resort was so jammed with visitors that some were driven away.
This season, the resort wants to make sure that snow bunnies looking to hit the slopes have space and better amenities.
Lee Canyon and their $7 Million in improvements
Lee Canyon announced in a press release that the resort, owned by Brian Head owner Mountain Capital Partners, is plowing millions towards improvements.
The resort, which already sports a relatively new lodge at the base of the mountain, is improving everything from lifts to parking. A new Ponderosa chairlift will bring easier access to three trails with varying difficulties. A “magic carpet” ski lift, or conveyor lift, will also be installed. That will help the kiddos go 500 feet up the hill to test the slopes. No ropes to grab, no chairs to get in and out of.
The biggest improvement – arguably – is parking. Lee Canyon is in dire need of more and they’re getting more. 450 spots in total set up near the new Ponderosa chairlift and the Rabbit Peak beginners section would allow more people to enjoy the mountain this winter.
In the meantime, there’s plenty to do
Sure, you think of Lee Canyon, you think of snow. But the place is an absolute refuge during the hot summer days in the Las Vegas valley.
Right now you could head up and enjoy a picturesque chair lift ride, throw axes or practice your archery. There is also an incredible downhill mountain bike park that opened last year that has been thrilling riders. And if you’ve tried disc golf in the valley and are up for a little bit of a challenge, the 18 hole disc golf course will have you equal parts thrilled and nervous you’ll lose your disc.
Add yoga to the mix and temperatures that are much lower than 100 degrees, and you’ll make it a regular visit when the sun is shining.
