MSG Sphere Las Vegas Plans Out Of This World ‘Earth’ Production
The over $2 billion MSG Sphere behind The Venetian certainly has a lot to live up to. At a price tag far exceeding Allegiant Stadium, the cost per seat is immense. We already know that U2 is planned to call the venue their home for a special Las Vegas residency tailor made for the unique venue. The next frontier for Las Vegas‘ most technically advanced venue? The whole Earth.
Johnny Kats from the Las Vegas Review-Journal first reported that MSG Sphere plans on creating a series of productions called “Sphere Experiences“. These are showings that are specifically made to show off the 160,000 square foot gargantuan LED screen, “spatial” audio system that can pin-point sounds down to certain seats, and even “4D” experiences that can have you potentially smelling the scents, feeling the mist and shaking with the scenes.
The first production is called Postcard From Earth. It was originally developed by The Whale director Darren Aronofsky (what role he’ll have with this, we don’t know). They promise the show, which is set to play essentially on repeat, every day of the year during downtime (when U2 isn’t playing, we guess), will shine a spotlight on the “magnificent beauty of Earth”.
How can I get tickets to Postcard From Earth at MSG Sphere in Las Vegas?
The opening of MSG Sphere will be here before you know it. September isn’t that far away, and the pre-sale for Postcard From Earth is even closer. Tickets go on sale starting at $49 plus fees on Wednesday, April 12th at 10am on TheSphereVegas.com.
If you love Soarin’ Over… at Disneyland or FlyOver Las Vegas, this sounds like that but on steroids. And we are here for it.
