Las Vegas Brides Beware! David’s Bridal Files For Bankruptcy
Your wedding is supposed to be your most perfect day, but inevitably something goes awry along the way. This? This is a big one. David’s Bridal, a massive nationwide retailer of wedding dresses and other bridal accoutrements, has announced massive layoffs and bankruptcy.
The chain, which has two locations in the Las Vegas valley, warned a huge swath of employees on Friday that their jobs would be eliminated. Another round is expected later this summer with over 9,200 jobs in total set to be eliminated.
They say they are in the process of a sale, so the company may continue with a new corporate owner. That’s good news for some, however for brides-to-be a lot hangs in the balance.
What happens to brides already in the process with David’s Bridal?
Obviously the nightmare scenario at the top of every bride’s mind is walking down the aisle without that dream dress they picked out months prior. David’s Bridal is telling customers to rest assured they plan on living up to their orders. They told the New York Post “all stores are open to serve customers. Providing excellent service remains our focus and we are committed to serving and delivering for our brides and customers and being part of magical moments.”
That’s a better look than what Alfred Angelo did in 2017. That national bridal shop abruptly shuttered its doors in 2017 and left countless brides and bridesmaids dressless for the big day.
So what should you do? For now, the company says it is business as usual. But if you’re a beautiful Las Vegas bride looking for a retailer, your efforts might be better aimed elsewhere while David’s Bridal figures out their future.
