Las Vegas Aces Get White House Invitation (Finally)
Took long enough! The White House announced today that the Las Vegas Aces are being invited to meet with President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden on August 25th!
Obviously the WNBA powerhouse team deserves a visit to the White House. Every championship team does. But the fact it will take nearly 11 months to get their time in the spotlight is a bit strange. Maybe it’s because the White House forgot about them.
The Las Vegas Aces Got Slighted By The White House Before
It feels like just yesterday (it was about a month ago) when President Biden gave his love to the Vegas Golden Knights. “Congrats to the Vegas Golden Knights on their first Stanley Cup in just their sixth season,” Congrats to the Vegas @GoldenKnights on their first Stanley Cup in just their sixth season. The first major professional franchise in such a proud American city.
Today, the team and entire community are champions.

The Knight certainly deserved that love. But so did the Las Vegas Aces… and the same love was not poured out for them when they won the WNBA Championship on September 18th, 2022. That’s something that Las Vegas Aces star forward A’ja Wilson noticed.
“Twitter not letting me quote tweet potus tweet but (be f***ing for real) when is our White House visit cause,” A’ja Twitter not letting me quote tweet potus tweet but …BFFR 😐😐 when is our White House visit cause … pic.twitter.com/o9uc88Qg6U

It’s not sour grapes. She has a point. Female-led sports are often overlooked and it may have taken a tweet from A’ja to get the White House invite. Better late than never.
Don’t be too late though. The WNBA Championship games will surely take place in September, leaving a narrow window to celebrate the victory before the next WNBA Champions are crowned. Although, considering how well the Aces are doing this year, they may as well swing back in October. The Aces have begun the season at an outrageous 19-2, including going undefeated at home.
We don’t want to say dynasty, but anything less than that would be shocking at this point.
