Durango Casino To Unveil Elevated Sports And Bar Concept

Watching the game is about to become a lot more delicious at Durango Casino.

There seems to be a complicated Venn diagram when it comes to sports bars in Las Vegas. You can watch the game, but the food isn’t great. The food is great, but the TV’s aren’t big enough. It’s a fun place to watch the game but that’s it. A new concept coming to Durango Casino is hoping to meet all of those circles in the middle.

The George Sportsmen’s Lounge is opening along with the property this fall and is promising 24 hours of delectable dishes, a great higher-end venue to watch the game, and an outdoor patio with a view. The renderings of the venue really show off the fact that this isn’t your neighborhood bar, if the press release is to be believed.

Offering up an elevated experience at Durango Casino

Sure, you’ll find screens everywhere but they bring it up a notch with a sportsbook-quality 56 foot LED wall to watch the game. Which one? All of them. Yeah, you’ll find burgers on the menu. You’ll also find premium steaks and seafood, flatbread and more. The outdoor patio will feature cornhole, shuffleboard and more “backyard” games with a beautiful view facing the northwest and the mountains in the distance.

Cornhole? Shuffleboard? Yes please.

Everything they seem to be offering up is a step above your typical sportsbook fare. That’s the thing… this will be right next to the STN Sportsbook. It’s not a cheap hot dog and soda joint. This really brings it to a whole new level. Plus there’ll be betting kiosks inside so you don’t have to leave the comfy confines of the place!

They even promise some elevated entertainment experiences as well, from local and national bands to DJs and more. It’s gonna be a big deal!

    Jordan’s Order: I tend to get the unagi bowl, a side order of gyoza and a seaweed salad. Afterward, I’ll order a couple of duck with balsamic vinegar skewers from the yakitori menu.

    Jordan’s Order: There are two All You Can Eat (AYCE) courses, so decide if you want to spend extra for premium items. I start my AYCE orders with all my favorite nigiri: Garlic Tuna, Garlic Salmon, Fresh Water Eel, and Tamago. An order of Gyoza from the appetizers. A Towing Sashimi Poki from the no rice rolls. A full Lemon Salmon Roll, a full Dancing Eel Roll, and half of a Spicy Tataki Roll.

    Jordan’s Order: A Miso Ramen Bowl with added Pork Chashu, Nitamago, Spicy Paste and Crushed Garlic for my toppings. You want to ask for the Spicy Paste and Crushed Garlic on the side so you can control how spicy or garlicy you’d like your bowl. A little hack I like to do is only eat half of my toppings, but all of the noodles. Then request ‘Kaedama’ for more noodles and have yourself a second bowl to eat immediately or take it to go.

    You really can’t go wrong with any of their special dish options. The ramen is pretty filling, so I tend to only get one, with the Creamy Crab Croquettes being my favorite. They’re crispy, soft, and delicious, but be careful not to burn your tongue as they’re made piping hot fresh.

    Finally, for my drink I always order a Calpico. It’s a Japanese uncarbonated soft drink that’s somewhat milky and acidic with a flavor similar to vanilla yogurt.

  • #1 Sakana Sushi / Sushi Neko / Umami Restaurant

    Sakana is Downtown near UNLV, Sushi Neko is in Chinatown, and Umami Restaurant is in the Northwest. Sakana is the original location, with the other two being sister locations.

I’ll have a full Lemon Salmon Roll, half a Lisa Lisa Roll, try some new things, and then finish with a Wet Dream, which is a baked roll. When I’m with company I’ll also get a bottle of Strawberry Sake to share.
