Las Vegas Road Closures: Where? Everywhere
The unofficial Nevada state flower is in full bloom and road closures and restrictions are everywhere you turn in Las Vegas, starting tonight.
Road Closures at the Centennial Bowl in Northwest Las Vegas
Tonight (Thursday, September 28th) the never-ending work on the Centennial Bowl project will slog on. This time, the entirety of the 215 will be shut down near the project overnight from 8pm through 5am on Friday, September 29th.
- 215 Westbound closed between North Tenaya Way & Grand Montecito Parkway
- 215 Eastbound closed between Grand Montecito Parkway & North Tenaya Way
While there will be detours marked in the area, it will be a bit messy. Thankfully this project is finally, supposedly going to be completed in December.
The 15/Trop Project continues to be messy
While they are getting a lot of work done, it’s a bit of a mess at Interstate 15 and Tropicana. Phase 2 continues through the winter, and they’ll be restricting, closing, and generally mucking up the road for a while.
- Frank Sinatra Drive between Arena Drive and Excalibur Way will be down to one lane from 11pm to 7am from Sunday, October 1st through Thursday, October 5th. Then it will be down to 1 lane from Sunday, October 7th through Friday, October 20th. Enjoy going to Golden Knights games.
- Southbound Interstate 15 between Flamingo and Tropicana will have nightly closures from 9pm to 5am on Wednesday, October 4th and Thursday, October 5th.
- Drivers will have to get off at Flamingo, head south on Decatur, then swing back to get to the 15 at Tropicana.
- Northbound Interstate 15 at Tropicana will be down to four lanes through the end of Phase 2 this winter.
Airport travelers will be affected in October
If you want to fly away from this mess, we don’t blame you. Sadly you will have a hard time getting to Harry Reid International Airport without bumping into some cones.
- Southbound Airport Connector tunnel will be down to one lame from 11pm to 5am on:
- Monday, October 2nd through Friday, October 6th
- Monday, October 9th through Friday, October 13th
- Rinse and repeat Northbound (towards the airport) except the one lane restrictions will be from 10pm to 5am on:
- Sunday, October 15th through Thursday, October 19th
- Sunday, October 22nd through Thursday, October 26th
Sahara Avenue… you got next
If you enjoy traversing West Sahara from Rainbow to Rancho, do we have news for you. Nevada DOT is about to begin their “Sahara Avenue Safety Enhancement Project”. It’s a pretty dangerous stretch of road with over 1,600 crashes from 2012-2017 according to NDOT, so it’s obviously needed. Traffic signals, medians, crosswalks and more will be enhanced which, of course, means cones.
- Work starts October 2nd in both directions and won’t finish until February.
- NDOT says the vast majority of the project will take place at night.
So there it is. The cone company gets richer, the drivers get less sane, and eventually our long regional nightmare of road construction will be over. We think. Maybe.
